About Air Liquide in China
Already present in China in 1916 and with an increased development in the last 15 years, Air Liquide employs about 2,500 people in this country. Main activities are industrial and medical gas operations (Air Liquide China) and Engineering & Construction (Air Liquide Hangzhou and Lurgi), designing and manufacturing in China air separations units and hydrogen plants. Air Liquide operations are located in the industrial areas of Beijing, Tianjin, Liaoning and Shandong in the north, Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang in the east, and expanding to Hubei, Sichuan and Shaanxi in the mid-west, and Guangdong in the south.
The number of plants in China will increase from 6 in 2004 to 32 in 2009 following the signature of long term contracts. Air Liquide has a strong investment plan in China, in order to satisfy the increasing demand and provide solutions in terms of efficiency, environment protection and healthcare. We see many opportunities in such growing markets as energy, steel, chemicals, environment, high technologies, and healthcare. In addition, the trend to outsource production of non-core products to professional companies such as Air Liquide represents many opportunities for Air Liquide and customers.
